Major 2 Career Videos + Curriculum
INTRODUCTION
The Major 2 Career video series and curriculum was created by Nohemy Chavez for The Puente Project as a free and accessible tool to promote knowledge, awareness, and validation for first-generation students.
The curriculum aims to promote various pathways by highlighting first-generation professionals and their unique journeys. The videos demonstrate that a major doesn’t equal a career and that higher education attainment leads to both economic vitality and growth in the communities first-generation people represent.

There are 20 videos each focused on a specific major but promoting two different career paths to demonstrate that a major isn’t tied to a specific career. There is also an Introductory video on what a major is based on Lezra Chenportillo’s First Gen Transfer curriculum. Most of the videos have professionals who were community college transfer students, most attended a public California university, and many earned advanced graduate degrees.
