We’d like to recognize Dr. Gustavo Flores, our very own Puente teacher from Norte Vista High School and Puente alum from Riverside Community College. Dr. Flores successfully defended his dissertation on “The Puente Project: Validation and Cultural Wealth Capital and Empowering Chicano/a Leadership Identity in Inclusive Academic Spaces.” His dissertation explored the lived experiences of what the Puente Project does at the secondary level in inside and outside of classroom spaces to increase the cultural wealth capital of Chicano/a students through validating acts.

Dr. Flores has 20 years of experience as an educator in Alvord Unified School District in the Inland Empire. His focus has always been empowering youth in education through curriculum and we are so lucky to have him in our Puente familia. Please join us in congratulating him!
