This year’s election is one of the most important elections in our history.  We are experiencing a mixture of feelings that include hope, enthusiasm, and stress. And although, we aren’t sure about today’s outcome, we do feel optimistic that justice and our values of inclusivity will prevail. These values include continuing to stand for equity, appreciating one another, rejecting hate, focusing on our commonalities and celebrating our differences.

Thank you for all your hard work during these intense and powerful times. We find our hope and courage in the work and dedication of our Puente teams, CC administrators, and the persistence of our students. Regardless of the outcome, as we always do, we will come together and support each other through whatever tonight brings.

Over the next few days, please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Know that you are appreciated.

“Never forget that justice is what love looks like in public.”

Puente Co-Executive Directors

On September 18, 2020, Puente partnered with the LA Dodgers to have a Puente Day, where Dodgers’ top Latino Executives shared their personal stories, academic paths and career opportunities within the organization from Community Relations and HR to VP of External Affairs. Puente students received Dodgers swag and were able to ask questions regarding their college experiences and career paths.

Hosts Naomi Rodriguez (2nd row, 2nd column), Dodgers Vice President of External Affairs and Community Relations and Erika Sanchez (1st row, 2nd column), Dodgers Coordinator of Community Relations lead the panel discussion.

Puente students and staff in Dodgers gear pose for a photo after the panel event.

Thank You to Microsoft for today’s launching of our Coding & Gaming Program for all of our Puente Middle School sites in Hayward and Anaheim. This effort has been in the planning process for several months and we are excited that it has started and will continue through November 19th.

We are excited for this learning opportunity for our young students and for our new partnership with Microsoft. A special thank you to Ashley Tanos at Microsoft for working with us on this project!
